As the first global follow-up to the  2021 Food Systems Summit, the 2023 UN Food Systems Stocktaking Moment (July 24 – 26 in Rome, Italy) will bring together key stakeholders and countries committed to accelerating a food systems transformation, allow countries to review commitments to action made during the Summit and report on progress made at the national level, build momentum and outline bold solutions for addressing climate change and its implications on food systems, and push for continued achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In his Chair Summary and Statement of Action on the UN Food Systems Summit, the UN Secretary-General committed to convening "a global stocktaking meeting every two years to review progress in implementing the outcomes of this process and its contributions to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. This will be supported by the RBAs, the broader UN System and partners."

The Stocktaking Moment – hosted at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and organized by Rome-based UN Agencies (FAO, IFAD, WFP), the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, and teams across the UN system – will feature FSF CEO Ambassador Ertharin Cousin as a panelist at two high-level sessions, the Special Event with the Private Sector and the Mobilizing Means of Implementation for Food Systems Transformation Plenary, where she will offer her perspectives on the diverse set of solutions that will require both public and private sector coordination to leverage and direct more private sector capital to realize more equitable and resilient food systems.
