FSF CEO, Ertharin Cousin, at COP27 Highlighting the Need for Healthier, More Resilient Food Systems

At the 27th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP27) hosted in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from November 6 – 18, 2022, FSF CEO Ertharin Cousin will participate in conversations highlighting the need for healthier, more resilient global food systems and the robust economic opportunities food system investments can and will generate.

COP is the primary decision-making forum of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and once a year, brings together participating governments who have signed the UNFCCC, Kyoto Protocol, or the Paris Agreement to discuss and coordinate on how to address climate change and its impacts through concerted, collaborative, and impactful action.

Global food systems make up a third of greenhouse gas emissions and are a major driver of nature loss. Ertharin, and fellow panelists, will highlight the ways in which the public and private sector can lead global, sustainable food system solutions to address these risks - like through the FSF co-coordinated Good Food Finance Network.

Ertharin will join fellow GFFN Principals Susan Gardner (Director, Ecosystems Division, UN Environment), Diane Holdorf (Executive Vice-President, WBCSD), Gunhild Stordalen (Founder and Executive Chair, EAT Foundation), and Jeremy Coller (Founder of FAIRR and CIO of Coller Capital) to highlight the Good Food Finance Network (GFFN) — a network of high-level leaders, technical experts and agropreneurs from finance, business and public sector combining their resources and intellectual capital to promote investment and provide finance solutions for sustainable food systems. Globally, we need a systemic approach to dealing with climate-induced water scarcity in agriculture to ensure that we can feed a growing world population. Ertharin will join Johannes Cullmann, Carl Ganter and Cristina Alonso to discuss what needs to be done right now to create water-resilient food systems amid a rapidly changing climate.
