Methane Mitigation and Nutrition Security: Achieving Global Sustainability requires Both

Earth Day serves as a reminder of the urgency of the climate crisis, and our collective responsibility to protect and preserve our planet. In honor of Earth Day, Food Systems for the Future, Food Tank and the Environmental Defense Fund are co-hosting a virtual webinar on April 22nd to discuss methane mitigation in the food system as a priority action area as well as the importance of elevating nutrition and food security into this dialogue.

During the webinar, participants will discuss the barriers hindering methane mitigation and food security progress, explore potential strategies for overcoming them while considering synergistic efforts and areas for increased industry action. They will also delve into the nutritional implications of methane reduction in the food system, addressing affordability, equitable distribution, awareness, and changes to nutritional value, aiming to align nutrition and climate goals effectively underscoring collective action in addressing these complex challenges. Panelists will also examine strategies to enhance cooperation and define success for climate and nutrition goals leading up to COP30.

Speakers include Ertharin Cousin, Founder and CEO of Food Systems for the Future; Danielle Nierenberg, President of Food Tank; Britt Groosman, Vice President of Climate-Smart Agriculture at the Environmental Defense Fund; Katherine F.
